Awareness is Growing!

In this video report by Angela Reece, of Columbia University School of Journalism, we hear from Full Figure Fashion Week founder Gwendolyn Devoe, singer Alexandria Sundbye and The Fat Apple NYC blogger Melissa Davis.

They express the need for plus-size boutiques and awareness that more and more designers and stores are carrying plus-sizes.

This is exciting news for us and you! The options for fashion forward and conventional looks for curvy women is growing as is the need for boutiques to bring you these looks.

We are excited by the growing awareness of the needs of the plus-size shopper. Curvaceous K™ hopes to fill this need for all curvy women in New York and perhaps for curvy women everywhere in the future.

What is your experience in shopping for clothes that fit your shape? Leave us a comment and we will make sure it gets posted for your fellow shoppers to see!

London based plus-size boutique Evans has a great way to help you shop for your shape. We all have heard of the way to pick clothes is to determine what shape you are. Hourglass, Apple, Pear or Heart. Evans has given you tips on how to enhance your special shape with Get It or Forget It.

As an example, I will pick my shape and show you what they say for me to Get It or Forget It.

a Voluptuous Bust with narrower hips and bottom.

GET IT

V necklines
Tops in dark solid colours
Patterned skirts, creating interest on the bottom half
A line & Maxi skirts to create a balanced silhouette
Flared or bootcut pants
As always - good fitting underwear
Chunky heels to balance your shape
Long necklaces that draw the eye to the center of the body
Chunky or bold statement hipster belts
Medium to large bags

FORGET IT

Frills, embellishments and heavy patterns around the bust
Small or slim line accessories, petite clutch bags
Delicate or fine jewelry
Soft unstructured shoulder bags can create too much volume
Polo necks
Thine spaghetti strap tops
Short mini skirts can create a 'block' effect

With these simple tips I can make the most of my shape and find the right pieces to adorn it.

Plus Model Magazine Wins Lane Bryant Glam Bra Contest

Madeline Jones may be the Editor-in-Chief of Plus Model Magazine but that doesn't mean she is a stick in the mud. In this photo from the online magazine, she shows that not only is she a good sport but a gorgeous plus-size woman as well.

Entering herself into the "Cacique Runway Glam Bra Giveaway" earlier this year she promised, if she won, she would shoot herself wearing it. A woman of her word, here is the proof.

Bloggers everywhere take note! If you are not willing to walk the walk, don't talk the talk.

Congratulations to you Madeline and Plus Model Magazine on your win and thank you for showing us you have what it takes to be a voice for curvy women everywhere.

Chelsea Settles Final Episode

It's sad to see that Chelsea Settles has come to an end. This final episode is not an ending but a new beginning for Chelsea.

To begin with, Chelsea feels great anxiety over her argument with her trainer Angela over her decision whether to stay or move with Rory to Tennessee. It really wasn't such a big deal but they made the effort to make it so. I did feel good for her when Angela told her that she would support her no matter what she decided.

It was exciting to see her run the 5K with Angela. I was so proud of her when she was able to finish it. Jenna went with but walked it. It was still a great accomplishment for Jenna as well who gave up "bacon and twinkies" to do this with Chelsea.

On the work front, Chelsea waits on pins and needles to hear what Laura says about her promotion to marketing and events coordinator. This was the job she was "competing" for against Ashley her coworker. Laura ends up telling her that she didn't need a full time marketing coordinator. A bit of a blow to her since she was under the belief that there was a job at the end of this race.

A big shock to me was that Ashley had no intention of going for that job and that she was very supportive of Chelsea and her dreams. I have a better opinion of her now than I did before. I am sure that was the idea in the first place.

The episodes true question is whether or not Chelsea is going to stay in L.A. or move to Rory's base in Tennessee and become something else.

We do get the answer to that question by the very end. She decides to stay. It isn't the safe choice but I feel that it is the right choice.

Love is a funny thing at times. Rory is her first true love. I have had more than one true love as most people that have some years under their belt have. If there is a way to make it work, you will find it. It will be hard to do so with them being in different parts of the country but with some time a balance could be reached.

She needs to see her dreams come true. Those dreams cannot be sought on an Army base in Tennessee. Perhaps Rory will be able to find a base and or a job closer to L.A. Time will tell.

To sum up my experience with this show, I'd have to say that it was more inspiring and more fun than I expected. I am older than today's MTV generation but I am a part of a MTV generation which makes us family. I loved this show and I hope to see more about Chelsea and the gang in the near future.

I hope you enjoyed it as much as I do. Leave me your comments about the show and your experience with it. Be healthy and be happy.

H & M Using Fake Models

Swedish fashion chain H & M admitted to using dolls and computer manipulation to show case their clothes on their website.

Spokesman for the company, Hacan Andersson confirmed it by saying:

"It's not a real body, it is completely virtual and made by the computer. We take pictures of the clothes on a doll that stands in the shop, and then create the human appearance with a program on a computer." He went further saying: "The result is strange to look at, but the message is clear: buy our clothes, not our models."

Check out the full story here.

What do you think of this?
